Putrajaya, 22 August 2025 – As part of Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship, the ASEAN Green Jobs Forum (AGJF) 2025 will be held on 27-28 August 2025 in Putrajaya, Malaysia. The ASEAN event is hosted by Malaysia’s Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA), with support from the ASEAN Secretariat (ASEC) and the Government of Australia through the Aus4ASEAN Futures Initiative. This flagship regional event will bring together high-ranking labour officials, policymakers, industry leaders, education providers, and social partners to explore the theme: “AI, Digitalisation and Green Jobs: Future-Proofing Skills and Talents for ASEAN.”

Building on the momentum of the inaugural AGJF held in April 2024 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the 2025 Forum will shift the focus from visioning to planning for implementation. Discussions will spotlight specific areas of the value chain where green opportunities lie, using real-world case studies to ground policy dialogue, and showcase scalable partnerships that can be adapted across the region, reinforcing ASEAN’s shared commitment to inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

AGJF 2025 will provide a high-level platform to:

  • Highlight green growth opportunities and workforce transformation in ASEAN.
  • Explore the twin transition of digitalisation and decarbonisation and their impact on jobs and skills.
  • Explore the ensuing prospect to envision a separate investment asset class (derivatives, shares, bonds, etc.,) to raise funds for public and private sectors green ventures, consequently supporting the creation of more green jobs.
  • Showcase scalable solutions and strategies to scale innovative partnerships across the region.
  • Facilitate dialogue for aligning skill development policies with industry demands.

Key sessions of the two-day workshop include:

  • Labour Leaders’ Plenary Session, high-level dialogues and Q&A session with labour policymakers.
  • Thematic panels on hotspots for green and just transitions, corporate strategies on adapting to green transition, green portfolio assets, green financing (including green micro-financing) and green opportunities across the value chain of key sectors (specifically agriculture, transport, energy and supply chain). The panel sessions also provide an opportunity to discuss the risks associated with green transformation on marginalised communities and how societal actors can come together to support inclusive sustainable growth.
  • Networking sessions for ministers, industry leaders, and civil society actors to exchange insights, and discuss regional priorities. It enables cross-sector networking, fosters partnership-building, and supports building of collective ASEAN vision towards a green and inclusive workforce.
