In the podcast, the tax experts discuss the bill’s provisions with host Pat Soldano, President of Family Enterprise USA and Policy and Taxation Group, both based here.

New Tax Bill Wins
The podcast, entitled “How the Passage of the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ will affect Family-owned Businesses,” details for listeners what the new tax bill means for family-owned businesses, its positive provisions, and what concerns lie ahead.
During the episode, Soldano speaks with experts Mark Warren, shareholder of the law and government affairs firm, Brownstein, and Caren Street, Principal, and Michael Hawthorne, Associate, of the law and government affairs firm, Squire Patton Boggs, respectively.
Mark Warren, of Brownstein, is a leading tax policy expert, having worked on every major tax-policy debate since the Clinton administration.
Caren Street, a seasoned Washington, D.C. operative with 17 years of experience on Capitol Hill and in government relations, is principal in Squire Patton Boggs’ Public Policy Practice Group. Prior to joining the firm, Caren gained 14 years of bipartisan, bicameral and leadership experience on Capitol Hill.
Hawthorne, an associate in Squire Patton Boggs’ Public Policy Practice, has experience on Capitol Hill and in government investigations. He advises major corporations, organizations, and nonprofits on complex policy issues, with an emphasis on taxation, energy and transportation and infrastructure.
“The most significant result from the passage of the bill is certainty,” said Warren during the discussion. “Knowing what the rates and deductions will be goes a long way for business planning,” he said.
Street’s view of the bill is that it also reflects “not just tax policies, but also the spending policies of the new Administration.”
Hawthorne discusses how the new tax bill is a “culmination of years of work,” while Soldano says the result is the “top ten priorities are all being addressed” for family-owned businesses.
