Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today met with DatukSeri Saifuddin Nasution bin Ismail, Minister of Home Affairs of Malaysia, on the sidelines of the 18th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime and its Related Meetings in Vientiane, Lao PDR. Both sides discussed Malaysia’s preparation for the AMMTC Chairmanship in 2025 and its role as the ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting on Transnational Crime (SOMTC) Voluntary Lead Shepherd on people smuggling, sea piracy and money laundering priority areas. Dr. Kao also extended his full support for Malaysia’s Chairmanship of ASEAN next year, particularly under the AMMTC priority area.
