Joint Statement of the Fifth ASEAN Plus Japan Ministerial Meeting on Sports (5th AMMS+Japan)

The Fifth ASEAN Plus Japan Ministerial Meeting on Sports, held in Hanoi, Viet Nam, on 17 October 2025.

1. 1. RECALLS the Leaders’ adoption of the Joint Vision Statement on ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation “Trusted Partners” and its Implementation Plan in 2023 in setting the direction for ASEAN-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Note the commemoration of the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation in 2023 with the theme of nurturing “heart to heart” relationship based on mutual confidence and trust with ASEAN Member States, which signifies its shared commitment as equal partners in building regional peace and prosperity.

FURTHER RECALLS the Leaders’ adoption of the Chiang Mai Declaration on Strengthening ASEAN-Japan Cooperation on Sports Towards 2030 and REMAINS STEADFAST in its commitment to the advancement of ASEAN-Japan friendship and partnership in sports cooperation by strengthening policy dialogue and fostering mutual sports collaborations.
