Ensign InfoSecurity and TrendAI™ strengthen virtual patching against evolving AI-enabled attacks

Joint testing using Ensign’s proprietary AI assessment tool to identify new attack variations, enabling TrendAI to rapidly enhance protection coverage

SINGAPORE, Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Ensign InfoSecurity (“Ensign”), Asia Pacific’s largest pure-play cybersecurity services provider, and TrendAI™, the global AI security leader and enterprise business unit of Trend Micro, today announced the outcomes of a joint security testing initiative aimed at validating and strengthening cyber defences against increasingly adaptive AI-enabled attacks.

Ensign researchers used their proprietary AI assessment tool to test and validate TrendAI™ TippingPoint, which uses advanced virtual patching to shield enterprise networks from exploits before vendor fixes are available. Unlike conventional security testing that follows a predetermined attack path, Ensign uses AI to adapt its approach when it encounters defensive controls, testing whether alternative attack paths can overcome them.

During the assessment, Ensign identified opportunities to further strengthen TippingPoint as threat actors adapt their attack techniques in response to existing defensive controls.

TrendAI™ worked closely with Ensign to validate the findings and rapidly introduced additional coverage to strengthen its TippingPoint™ virtual patching protection.

The exercise demonstrates an increasingly important consideration for cyber defence: stopping one attack attempt may no longer be sufficient when AI can rapidly adapt, retry and explore alternative ways of reaching the same objective.

“AI is changing what effective security testing looks like. Blocking the first attack is no longer enough if an AI-enabled attacker can adapt and try another route. Our testing showed why organisations need to continuously validate whether their security controls can stand up to this kind of adaptive behaviour,” said Paul Tan, Executive Vice President of Government & Singapore Enterprises, Ensign InfoSecurity. “The value of this exercise was not simply in identifying where protection could be strengthened, but in how quickly Ensign and TrendAI™ were able to turn those findings into stronger protection. This continuous cycle of testing, validating and strengthening defences is what organisations will increasingly need as AI-enabled attacks evolve.”

“Due to frontier AI, the speed and sophistication of cyberattacks are accelerating faster than most security teams can keep pace with. Adversaries are already using AI to probe, adapt and exploit weaknesses in real time. A reactive security posture is no longer good enough. This is why TrendAI™ is partnering with Ensign to bring proactive, continuous validation to our customers. By combining Ensign’s threat discovery capabilities with TippingPoint™’s virtual patching, we are helping organisations close the gap between when a vulnerability is discovered and when it is actually protected, giving security teams the head start they need against frontier AI threats,” said David Siah, Vice President, AMEA Channels, TrendAI™.

From testing controls to continuous validation

AI is changing the speed and economics of cyberattacks, enabling attackers to automate tasks, adapt techniques and explore alternative attack paths more quickly.

As attacks become more adaptive, security guardrails and controls remain essential, but organisations need to continuously validate that they remain effective as attack techniques evolve. Ensign uses leading AI models to test attack paths against an organisation’s security environment, identifying where controls hold, where alternative paths may exist and where defences can be strengthened.

The Ensign and TrendAI™ collaboration demonstrates how continuous testing can shorten the feedback loop between testing security controls, identifying areas for improvement and strengthening protection against evolving attack techniques.

  • Nominated by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
  • A physician trained in Saudi Arabia and the United States, with more than 30 years of experience spanning clinical medicine, academic research and international public health leadership
  • WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean sets out a three-part platform for a more trusted, prepared and accountable World Health Organization
  • Record of delivery includes mobilising more than US$1.6 billion in additional programme resources for polio and emergencies

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Dr Hanan H. Balkhy, WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, announced her candidacy for Director-General of the World Health Organization, having been nominated for the role by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, pledging to build “a WHO the world can count on.”

Dr Hanan H. Balkhy, WHO Director General Candidate 2027

“The world needs a WHO it can count on, that means decisions grounded in science and transparency; an Organization that is prepared before crises strike and decisive when they do; and a WHO that turns universal health coverage from a global commitment into something people experience in their everyday lives.”

“I have spent my career confronting health threats, strengthening health systems and leading through crises. I have worked and led across WHO at every level – country, regional and global – and I understand both what Member States need from the Organization and what it takes to deliver for them. I also know the difference strong institutions can make when they are trusted, prepared and focused on delivery.”

“My candidacy is a commitment to the transformational change WHO now needs: earning Trust through science and stewardship, delivering Impact through preparedness and country-led action, and demonstrating Value through measurable results. Above all, it means keeping people at the centre of global health.”

A physician with more than three decades of experience spanning clinical medicine, academic research and international public health leadership, Dr Hanan H. Balkhy has built her career from the bedside to the highest offices of global health.

She currently leads WHO’s operations across 22 Member States and more than 750 million people as Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, having previously served as WHO’s first-ever Assistant Director-General for Antimicrobial Resistance and as a member of the Organization’s Global Policy Group.

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Health, H.E. Fahad Abdulrahman AlJalajel, said: “Dr Balkhy is one of the world’s foremost public health experts. She has dedicated her career to advancing global health, and she brings the fresh thinking, proven leadership, and record of results that this moment demands”

Her candidacy comes at a pivotal moment for WHO, as the Organization moves from negotiation to implementation of the Pandemic Agreement, works to strengthen its financing base, and responds to growing calls from Member States for greater country ownership of health priorities.

Dr Balkhy has begun a programme of international visits, meeting government officials, health leaders and frontline practitioners around the world. Most recently she attended the WHO Regional Committee Meeting for Africa in Ethiopia and the one for the Southeast Asia in Timor Leste. She will be at the UNGA and in Washington D.C. later this month for national and multilateral engagements.

Dr Hanan H. Balkhy has built her career from the bedside to the highest levels of global health leadership, working across diverse health systems and political contexts. Trained in Saudi Arabia and the United States, with leadership experience spanning Saudi Arabia, the Eastern Mediterranean Region and WHO headquarters in Geneva, she brings a rare breadth of clinical, scientific and institutional experience to the role. Throughout her career, she has bridged science and policy, linking crisis response with long-term health-system strengthening and a focus on measurable results.

Long before COVID-19, she was working on the frontlines of MERS-CoV, helping to build Saudi Arabia’s national infection prevention programme, strengthen its research capacity and lead the country’s first Phase I clinical vaccine trial.

Dr Balkhy’s platform is built on three priorities:

1.  Built on TRUST – A WHO the world can count on – Restoring scientific authority, strengthening accountability and protecting WHO’s independence.

2.  Driven by IMPACT – A WHO that is there when it matters – Strengthening preparedness, responding faster to health emergencies and supporting countries when crises strike.

3.  Measured by VALUE – A WHO that delivers measurable results – Advancing universal health coverage, strengthening country capacity and demonstrating the value of every resource entrusted to it.

Dr Balkhy said she was deeply grateful to the Kingdom, to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for the nomination, which reflects their leadership in, and commitment to, global health for all.

Y Combinator Alum Launches Atli, an AI-Powered Travel eSIM Built Into WhatsApp

0

Razer-backed travel tech company XForge Mobile turns WhatsApp into a travel connectivity platform for international travel – helping travelers find, buy and activate eSIM data across 200+ countries through a conversation.

SAN FRANCISCO and SINGAPORE, Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Techlogic Solutions Inc., the U.S. company behind XForge Mobile, today launched Atli, an AI travel companion built into WhatsApp that helps international travelers get connected abroad through a conversation.

Atli was built by Peter Hoang, who co-founded Gotrade – a Y Combinator company – before founding XForge Mobile. The group is backed by Razer’s zVentures, Rebel Fund and Founderheads.

A traveler checks the Atli AI-powered eSIM service on WhatsApp at an airport terminal

For international travelers, getting connected abroad still means either paying for expensive roaming or shopping for a travel eSIM – comparing plans, guessing how much data they need and working through setup, often while already on the move.

Atli replaces that sequence with a message.

A traveler can write: “I land in Rome Thursday for 10 days.

Atli uses the trip context to recommend a suitable data plan, takes the traveler through payment and guides eSIM activation. The same conversation stays open throughout the trip if the traveler needs to check their data, top up or get help getting connected.

“Most AI travel products start with inspiration and planning, then hand the traveler somewhere else when it is time to transact,” said Peter Hoang, co-founder and CEO of XForge Mobile. “We started at the transaction. Connectivity is one of the first things a traveler actually needs, and it has to work before almost everything else on the trip does.”

From AI Recommendations to AI Transactions

Generative AI has made it increasingly easy to build itineraries, research destinations and ask travel questions. XForge Mobile believes the next opportunity is moving from AI that recommends to AI that acts.

Atli starts with connectivity because it is one of the first essential purchases associated with an international trip.

Rather than requiring travelers to begin with a country list and data allowances, Atli starts with natural language:

Tell Atli where you’re going. Atli helps work out the rest.

The conversational interface also changes how travel connectivity can be distributed.

A travel creator can share an Atli link with followers. A hotel can place a QR code at reception. A travel agent can send it to customers before departure. One tap opens the conversation and takes the traveler directly into the purchase flow.

“Our goal is to make distributing connectivity as easy as sharing a link,” Hoang said. “Messaging becomes the storefront.”

A Conversation That Stays With the Traveler

That continuity is central to Atli’s longer-term strategy.

Most online travel transactions end once the booking or purchase is complete. Atli is designed to remain available through the same conversation while the traveler is abroad.

The company’s longer-term plan is to extend Atli beyond connectivity into other parts of the journey.

Planned capabilities include a travel wallet and services that could allow the assistant to top up data, manage rewards and help travelers transact through the same conversational interface.

“Connectivity is the wedge, not the destination,” Hoang said. “We want to be the layer that stays with a traveler from the first message to the last day of the trip. Building the connectivity relationship earns us the opportunity to help with what comes next.

From Travel Devices to Global Connectivity

Atli is part of XForge Mobile’s broader travel technology business.

The company has previously developed and shipped connected mobile devices to customers across more than 60 countries.

XForge Mobile also makes NOMAD, a 100W GaN universal travel adapter designed for international travelers. NOMAD units include Atli travel data credit, connecting the company’s physical travel products with its digital connectivity platform.

Atli currently offers travel eSIM data plans across 200+ countries and destinations.

The service is available through WhatsApp and Telegram, with Apple iOS and Android apps coming soon. More information is available at heyatli.com.

Destination guides, eSIM setup instructions and country-by-country data pricing are published in 12 languages on the Atli travel blog.

About XForge Mobile – XForge Mobile is a travel technology business operated by Techlogic Solutions Inc. Its products include NOMAD, a universal 100W GaN travel adapter, and Atli, an AI travel companion and global eSIM platform. The business is backed by Razer’s zVentures, Rebel Fund, and Founderheads.

Iridium, Deutsche Telekom IoT, and Toyota Demonstrate Voice Messaging over Satellite via Iridium NTN Direct

0

Newly completed roaming agreement extends Deutsche Telekom’s IoT coverage onto Iridium’s satellite network

MCLEAN, Va., Sept. 10, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Iridium Communications Inc. (Nasdaq: IRDM), a leading provider of global voice, data, aircraft surveillance, and positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) satellite services, and Deutsche Telekom IoT (DT IoT) today announced the successful transmission of a voice message over Iridium NTN Direct℠ in a demonstration with Toyota. The milestone message was sent from a Toyota vehicle equipped with a Nordic Semiconductor nRF9151 development board, a Deutsche Telekom IoT SIM and transmitted entirely via the Iridium satellite network during the Telekom Satellite Day 2026. The demonstration follows the successful completion of technical integration and a global roaming agreement between Iridium and Deutsche Telekom IoT.

“The voice message sent over our network from a Toyota vehicle illustrates how Iridium NTN Direct will enhance consumer and commercial applications for people and assets operating outside traditional coverage areas,” said Matt Desch, CEO, Iridium. “This demonstration is a glimpse into the future of truly global, standards-based connectivity. Now is the time to begin integrating Iridium NTN Direct.”

The first message sent, “testing, testing, one, two, freeway,” successfully demonstrated standards-based NB-IoT voice messaging over Iridium’s fully operational low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellation, and was supported by Fraunhofer’s AI-based NESC® Voice Codec. This capability will extend reliable connectivity beyond terrestrial coverage for automotive, logistics, remote utilities, smart agriculture, emergency response and other IoT applications that need to stay connected wherever they operate. Through Iridium NTN Direct, eligible DT IoT customers using compatible standards-based NB-IoT devices will be able to roam between terrestrial networks and Iridium satellites.

“The future of connectivity does not end where terrestrial networks reach their limits,” said Christian Schwalbe, CEO, Deutsche Telekom IoT. “Together with strong partners such as Iridium and many others, we are connecting mobile communications and satellite to form a global IoT infrastructure that keeps vehicles, machines and people reliably accessible. The demonstration with Toyota shows how technological innovation can be turned into concrete added value for our customers.”

Manfred Lutzky, Head of the Communications Audio Department at Fraunhofer IIS said, “We are very pleased to support this Automotive NTN Voice PoC by providing Fraunhofer’s innovative AI-based NESC Voice Codec. NESC enables reliable, natural sounding and highly intelligible satellite voice services at scale by operating at bitrates of 1 kb/s or less.” He continued, “This demonstration with Iridium, Deutsche Telekom, Toyota and the other partners is a great example of cross-industry collaboration that will help to grow the satellite voice ecosystem.”

With the roaming agreement now completed, Deutsche Telekom IoT customers are poised to take advantage of the commercial availability of Iridium NTN Direct in Q4 2026. Selected European customers are already testing and developing applications on the Iridium network using Deutsche Telekom’s Global SIM.

Unlike regional satellite solutions that rely on cellular spectrum or are limited by geographic availability, Iridium NTN Direct is designed to extend coverage using Iridium’s existing global L-band LEO satellite constellation. The service leverages a network already operating worldwide, providing a path for mobile network operators, chipset manufacturers, and device makers to extend connectivity without building or maintaining additional terrestrial infrastructure.

For Deutsche Telekom IoT, the integration further strengthens its “network of networks” approach: combining terrestrial and non-terrestrial connectivity to provide customers with reliable IoT coverage wherever their assets operate.
