The Association of Southeast Asian Nations or ASEAN was founded on Aug. 8, 1967 by the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand with the purpose of strengthening cooperation in the economic, social, cultural, technical, educational and other fields, and of promoting regional peace and stability through respect for justice and the rule of law and adherence to the principles of the United Nations Charter.
As the Philippines takes over the chairmanship of ASEAN in 2026, The Manila Times is relaunching its ASEAN Gazette, a digital platform dedicated to promoting the latest news and developments within the region.
A production of The Manila Times, the ASEAN Gazette was originally launched in 2023, using articles and stories from the ASEAN.org to present activities and concerns from member countries.
In addition to this, the ASEAN Gazette will also host a monthly fireside chat with officials from the embassies of the ASEAN member countries featuring discussions on trade, tourism, cultural and people to people exchanges, and more.
