JAKARTA, 3 December 2025 – The 4th ASEAN-Brazil Joint Sectoral Cooperation Committee (AB-JSCC) Meeting, held at the ASEAN Headquarters/ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta today, reaffirmed ASEAN and Brazil’s commitment to strengthening ties and advancing practical cooperation across key areas of mutual interest.
The Meeting reviewed progress in implementing the ASEAN-Brazil Practical Cooperation Areas (PCA) 2024-2028, which provides a roadmap for mutually beneficial collaboration. Ongoing initiatives cover areas such as science, technology and innovation, education, energy, public health, food security, climate change, and people-to-people exchanges.
Officials from both sides exchanged views on the future direction of the ASEAN-Brazil Sectoral Dialogue Partnership, identifying opportunities to deepen cooperation in areas such as combating transnational crime, maritime cooperation, trade and investment, artificial intelligence, creative economy, green transition, digital transformation, supply chain resilience, connectivity, and disaster management.
During the Meeting, ASEAN encouraged Brazil to support ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future and to actively engage in practical cooperation across the four key areas of the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP). ASEAN also called for Brazil’s support for the newly adopted ASEAN Connectivity Strategic Plan and the Initiative of ASEAN Integration (IAI) Work Plan V (2026-2030), and welcomed collaboration with ASEAN’s centres of excellence.
Brazil reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its partnership with ASEAN and ASEAN Member States. Brazil also highlighted its ongoing efforts in advancing sustainable development and briefed the Meeting on the outcomes of the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 30) held in Belém in November 2025, where an ASEAN Pavilion was set up, and the Transitional Fossil Fuel Finance Facility (TFFF) was launched.
The 4th AB-JSCC Meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community, San Lwin, and Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil to ASEAN, Henrique Archanjo Ferraro, and attended by Members of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN or their representatives, along with their respective delegations
