JAKARTA, 6 January 2026 – The ASEAN Secretariat announces the release of The ASEAN Magazine Issue Nos. 47–48, a year-end double edition titled ASEAN Tourism: A Destination for Every Dream.
The edition revisits ASEAN’s key activities and achievements in 2025, including Malaysia’s successful ASEAN Chairmanship, the adoption of ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future and four Strategic Plans, and the admission of Timor-Leste as ASEAN’s 11th Member State at the 47th ASEAN Summit. These milestones underscore ASEAN’s commitment to regional cooperation, inclusivity and integration.
In this issue, Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, outgoing ASCC Council Chair, reflects on the meaningful initiatives and outputs of the socio-cultural pillar. This issue also features the Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr Kao Kim Hourn, who shares his insights on the region’s collective efforts to advance ASEAN’s priorities and address emerging challenges, which he shared during a media interface before the 9th ASEAN Media Forum in Kuala Lumpur in November 2025.
Tourism takes centre stage in this double issue as travel across Southeast Asia continues to rebound after COVID-19. Philippine Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco, Chair of the ASEAN National Tourism Organisations (NTOs), discusses regional efforts to support tourism that is sustainable, resilient, and accessible. Additionally, the ASEAN NTOs outline their national tourism campaigns, each highlighting their countries’ unparalleled natural assets and high-quality tourism services, reinforcing ASEAN as a “destination for every dream.”
