Secretary-General of ASEAN receives Letter of Credence from Ambassador of Georgia to ASEAN

JAKARTA, 23 February 2026 – Ambassador Tornike Nozadze presented his Letter of Credence to the Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, at the ASEAN Headquarters/ASEAN Secretariat today, marking the assumption of his post as the Ambassador of Georgia to ASEAN.

Secretary-General Dr. Kao congratulated Ambassador Nozadze on his new role and reaffirmed the ASEAN Secretariat’s readiness to working closely with him and the Embassy of Georgia in Jakarta to further strengthen cooperation between ASEAN and Georgia. He encouraged Georgia to continue deepening existing cooperation and to explore opportunities with ASEAN in areas of mutual interest, including in the digital economy, peace and reconciliation, trade, investment, tourism, as well as people-to-people and business-to-business linkages.

Ambassador Nozadze reaffirmed Georgia’s interest in deepening its engagement with the region, building on Georgia’s collaboration with ASEAN Member States in key areas of tourism, culture, education, trade, and investment. He expressed Georgia’s readiness to work more closely with ASEAN to expand bilateral and multilateral cooperation, including through its interest in acceding to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC).

Georgia appointed its first Ambassador to ASEAN in 2013. Ambassador Nozadze is the third Ambassador to hold the position, succeeding Ambassador Irakli Asashvili, who concluded his tenure in April 2023.
