JAKARTA, 8 April 2026 – H.E. Francisco de la Torre Galindo today presented his Letter of Credence as Ambassador of the United Mexican States to ASEAN, to the Secretary‑General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, at the ASEAN Headquarters/ASEAN Secretariat.
Secretary‑General Dr. Kao congratulated Ambassador Francisco de la Torre Galindo on his assumption of office and expressed readiness to work closely with him and the Embassy of Mexico in Jakarta to further strengthen relations between ASEAN and Mexico. He encouraged Mexico to explore new opportunities for cooperation with ASEAN in areas of mutual interest, including trade and investment, energy, agriculture and fisheries, connectivity, tourism, as well as people‑to‑people exchange, among others.
Ambassador Francisco de la Torre Galindo underscored the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation between Mexico and ASEAN and looked forward to constructive engagement with ASEAN and ASEAN Member States.
Following the approval of his nomination by the ASEAN Member States, Ambassador Francisco de la Torre Galindo assumes his post as Ambassador of the United Mexican States to ASEAN, succeeding Ambassador Armando Gonzalo Alvarez Reina, who concluded his assignment in October 2023.
