Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today attended the 32nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Ministers Responsible for Trade (MRT) Meeting under the theme ‘Building an Asia-Pacific Community to Prosper Together’ in Suzhou, China. During the Meeting, Dr. Kao reaffirmed ASEAN’s commitment to open regionalism, inclusive and rules-based multilateral trading system, and strengthened regional economic integration amidst heightened global uncertainty and geoeconomic fragmentation. Dr. Kao also highlighted ASEAN’s efforts to reinforce regional resilience, advance digital transformation and sustainable growth, support MSMEs, as well as promote practical cooperation on digital trade, artificial intelligence, and the transition towards a low-carbon economy.
