BANGKOK — Myanmar’s regional neighbors are seeking “gradual” engagement, but the country’s leadership remains sidelined by the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean), Thailand said on Friday ahead of the first meeting of the bloc’s foreign ministers since a coup five years ago.
Myanmar Foreign Minister Tin Maung Swe will meet his counterparts from the 11-nation regional grouping at an “informal meeting” in Thailand’s capital Bangkok on Sunday.
