Secretary-General of ASEAN meets with the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Cambodia

Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today met with H.E. Pol. Gen. POR Phak, Secretary of State, Ministry of Interior and SOMTC-Cambodia Leader, on the margins of the 18th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime and its Related Meetings in Vientiane, Lao PDR. Both sides discussed Cambodia’s role as the ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Transnational Crime (SOMTC) Voluntary Lead Shepherd on the arms smuggling priority area since 2005. Dr. Kao also thanked Cambodia for initiating the ASEAN Declaration on Combating Arms Smuggling, which was adopted at the 17th AMMTC held in Labuan Bajo, Indonesia, in 2023, which served as guidance for ASEAN law enforcement in strengthening cooperation to address the threats of arms smuggling in the region.
