Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today delivered remarks at the 38th Executive Board Meeting of the Veterans Confederation of ASEAN Countries (VECONAC) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
In his remarks, Dr. Kao underscored VECONAC’s contribution, as an Entity Associated with ASEAN under Annex 2 of the ASEAN Charter, to a people-centred Community and to the aspirations of ASEAN Community Vision 2045: Our Shared Future. Dr. Kao noted the value of veterans in transmitting the lessons of peace, service and solidarity to younger generations, including through the ADMM’s new area of cooperation on military history, spearheaded by Cambodia.
Dr. Kao thanked the Cambodian Veterans and Pensioner Association for hosting the meeting and looked forward to the 25th General Assembly of VECONAC, on 5 October 2026, and the handover of the VECONAC presidency to the Veterans Association of Royal Brunei Armed Forces (VARBAF) for 2027.
