Indonesia hosts ASEAN Project Development Training

BOGOR, 29 November 2023 – The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Indonesia to ASEAN, in collaboration with the ASEAN Headquarters, hosted the ASEAN Project Development Training for Indonesian Government Officials from 27-29 November in Bogor. This training was conducted as part of the implementation of the 4th ASEAN Development Fund Work Plan.

Ambassador M.I. Derry Aman, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Indonesia to ASEAN, highlighted the significance of ASEAN Cooperation Projects as a key mechanism for regional cooperation and development in his opening remarks. He underscored Indonesia’s commitment to increase its engagement in ASEAN Cooperation Projects and how this can contribute to the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 and beyond. Concluding his remarks, he encouraged participants to actively engage in the training and develop good quality projects that will help address issues in the ASEAN region.

A total of forty Indonesian Government Officials from various ministries and agencies across the three ASEAN Community Pillars, participated in the three-day training. Through presentations, exercises, and group work, they were facilitated by the ASEAN Secretariat staffs on developing regional project proposals and managing ASEAN cooperation projects using a results-based management approach.

At the end of the training, participants developed and presented six regional project proposal drafts on: (1) Optimisation and Utilisation of ASEAN General Guidelines on the Preparation and Handling of Halal Food, (2) Enhancing ASEAN Youth Entrepreneurship in the Agricultural Sector, (3) Development of ASEAN Health Sector Knowledge Management Platform, (4) Establishing the ASEAN Mutual Recognition Arrangement on Tourism Professionals (MRA-TP) Regional Secretariat in Jakarta, (5) Enhancing Capabilities of ASEAN MSMEs to Utilise RCEP, and (6) ASEAN Capacity Building on the Impact of Violence Against Women and Children in Rural Community.

The training concluded with a presentation of certificate to the participants from the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Indonesia to ASEAN and the ASEAN Secretariat to mark their completion of the course.
