Permanent Representative of Thailand to ASEAN presents Letter of Credence to the Secretary-General of ASEAN

JAKARTA, 17 April 2024 – Ambassador Phantipha Iamsudha Ekarohit presented her Letter of Credence as the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Thailand to ASEAN to the Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, at the ASEAN Headquarters today.

During the courtesy call that took place after the ceremony of the presentation of the Letter of Credence, Secretary-General Dr. Kao congratulated Ambassador Phantipha on her assumption of office and reiterated the ASEAN Secretariat’s readiness to work closely with Ambassador Phantipha and the Permanent Mission of Thailand in Jakarta to support the work of ASEAN towards achieving ASEAN Community Vision 2025 and beyond.

Secretary-General Dr. Kao expressed appreciation to Thailand for its contribution to ASEAN Community building, most notably as ASEAN’s coordinator for sustainable development cooperation as well as active role and leadership in ASEAN’s external relations, particularly as country coordinator for ASEAN-Japan Dialogue Relations. Secretary-General Dr. Kao also acknowledged Thailand’s role as host of a number of ASEAN Centers of Excellence, and hoped that the ASEAN Centre for Public Health Emergencies and Emerging Diseases (ACPHEED) would be operationalised soon. He highlighted the pivotal role of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR) in the work of ASEAN, and thanked the ASEAN Member States, including Thailand, for their continuing support in strengthening the ASEAN Secretariat.

Ambassador Phantipha is Thailand’s seventh Permanent Representative to ASEAN since the CPR’s establishment in 2009.
