JAKARTA, 11 February 2024 – The ASEAN Secretariat proudly announces the release of The ASEAN Magazine Issue No. 42, Building an Inclusive ASEAN. This edition marks a pivotal moment as ASEAN transitions from the ASEAN Community Vision 2025 to the ASEAN Community Vision 2045, assessing its progress and laying the groundwork for the next two decades.

Malaysia’s 2025 ASEAN Chairmanship theme centres on promoting Inclusivity and Sustainability. ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Council Chair and Malaysia’s Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing, shares Malaysia’s priorities and deliverables.

This edition also examines ASEAN’s progress in mainstreaming disability rights, guided by the ASEAN Enabling Masterplan 2025: Mainstreaming the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The mid-term review of the Masterplan underscores ASEAN’s commitment to ensuring that persons with disabilities can fully participate in and contribute to the region’s development.

Additionally, this issue highlights the role of regional cooperation and knowledge sharing in advancing inclusion across ASEAN’s three pillars. It also features insights from policymakers, organisations, and persons with disabilities, reflecting ASEAN’s efforts to leave no one behind.
