JAKARTA, 7 March 2025 – The 6th ASEAN-Chile Development Partnership Committee (AC-DPC) Meeting agreed to forge closer cooperation across areas of mutual interest with the view to robustly implement the ASEAN-Chile Practical Cooperation Areas Cooperation (PCA) for ASEAN-Chile Development Partnership 2021-2026.
The 6th AC-DPC Meeting was held today at the ASEAN Headquarters/ASEAN Secretariat. Both sides exchanged updates on developments in ASEAN and Chile, reviewed the implementation progress of the PCA, and discussed the enhancement of cooperation moving forward.
The meeting took note of the progress made in various areas of cooperation under the PCA, such as in trade and investment, digital economy, and mineral cooperation. Noting that the PCA has been extended by one year until the end of 2026 and there remain a number of areas under the PCA to be addressed, the Meeting underscored the need to create greater momentum and deliberated on ways to enhance collaboration to further implement the PCA in its remaining period.
In order to implement the PCA with greater impact, the discussion focused on expanding cooperation in areas, such as digital economy, food, agriculture and forestry, and mineral cooperation. In addtion, the Meeting encouraged both sides to explore potential areas, including renewable energy, green hydrogren, environment and climate change, disaster management, public health, micro, small and medium enterprises, marine resources and fisheries, science, technology and innovation, tourism, gender equality, education, youth, and sports, as well as the four areas of cooperation under the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP). Lastly, the Meeting noted Chile’s application to accede to the Regional Comprehensice Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP) and welcomed Chile’s interest in establishing the ASEAN-Chile Business Advisory Council.
The 6th AC-DPC Meeting was co-chaired by Satvinder Singh, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for ASEAN Economic Community, and Mario Ignacio Artaza, Ambassador of Chile to ASEAN, and attended by the members of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN, officials from the Embassy of Chile in Indonesia, and the ASEAN Secretariat. The Ambassador of Timor-Leste to ASEAN attended the Meeting as observer.
