Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, today delivered pre-recorded remarks at the Third Global Forum for Sustainable Resilience, organised by the National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB) of the Republic of Indonesia, in Jakarta. In his remarks, Dr. Kao underscored the ASEAN Leaders’ Declaration on Sustainable Resilience as an important affirmation of ASEAN’s collective resolve to address the interconnected challenges of disaster risk, climate change and sustainable development through a more integrated and inclusive approach. He also recognised Indonesia’s continued leadership and contribution to advancing sustainable resilience in the region, including through its efforts at the national and community levels. He underlined that initiatives such as the Global Forum for Sustainable Resilience provided valuable platforms for sharing experiences and strengthening collective action towards a more resilient ASEAN. He also highlighted ASEAN’s role in fostering an integrated and inclusive approach to resilience in an increasingly complex risk landscape, in line with the ASEAN Leaders’ Declaration.
