The Embassy of Malaysia in Manila, in collaboration with Makati Shangri-La, Manila, will be introducing the ‘Malaysian Food Spread @ Circles Shangri La Makati’, a two-week gastronomic showcase celebrating Malaysia’s rich and diverse culinary heritage. The programme will be held from 5 to 16 November 2025 at Circles Event Café, offering guests a distinguished dining experience that highlights the authentic flavours and culinary traditions of Malaysia.
This initiative is organised in partnership with Makati Shangri-La, Manila, renowned for its world-class hospitality, refined ambience, and exceptional dining concepts. Strategically located in the heart of Makati’s central business district, Makati Shangri-La has long served as a preferred venue for international gatherings, diplomatic events, and cultural showcases.
The launch ceremony will be graced by representatives from the media, key stakeholders, and tourism industry partners. The event aims to enhance the visibility of Malaysia’s cultural diplomacy efforts in the Philippines, while strengthening people-to-people exchanges and fostering deeper institutional linkages between both nations.
The specially curated menu has been meticulously designed by two renowned Malaysian chefs, Chef Edwin (from Shangri La Makati) and Chef Ammar (from Malaysian Embassy), who bring their culinary expertise and creative flair to present the very best of Malaysia’s traditional and contemporary cuisine. Guests will have the opportunity to savour an exceptional selection of Malaysia’s signature dishes, including:
- Rojak Pasembur, a vibrant salad of mixed fritters and vegetables drizzled with spicy-sweet peanut sauce;
- Nasi Minyak, a fragrant rice infused with ghee and spices, traditionally served at festive occasions;
- Kerapu Asam Pedas, a tangy-spicy grouper fish stew that epitomises the bold flavours of Malay cuisine;
- Mee Kari, a rich and aromatic curry noodle dish with a harmonious blend of coconut milk and spices; and
- Ais Kacang, Malaysia’s iconic shaved ice dessert topped with colourful syrups, sweet beans, jellies, and creamed corn, a refreshing finale to a truly authentic Malaysian feast.
Through the presentation of these culinary highlights, the programme seeks to promote Malaysia’s diverse cultural heritage and multi-ethnic identity. This initiative also complements Malaysia’s broader efforts to promote cultural and gastronomic tourism under the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.
