TAI’AN, China, Nov. 5, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — This is a report from the Shandong Office of Hong Kong Business Daily. On November 2, the first CMG World Robot Mount Tai Mountain Competition was held in Tai’an, Shandong. Nearly 90 robot teams, carrying the latest scientific research achievements, launched a climbing challenge to Mount Tai.
The competition took place on the hiking trails of Mount Taishan, leveraging the mountain’s complex terrain to create a robotic racing scenario. The course spans approximately 3.9 kilometers and over 3,100 steps. It includes two main categories: speed racing and specialized events, where humanoid robots, quadrupedal robotic dogs, and exoskeleton robots compete in autonomous navigation, terrain adaptability, and load-bearing climbing. A unique exhibition event—The All-Terrain Mobility and Exploration Challenge—is dedicated to wheeled, tracked, spherical, and multi-configured robots, testing their comprehensive off-road capabilities.
This is a fusion of events and industry. In recent years, Tai’an City has prioritized advancing new industrialization as the top economic initiative, driving breakthroughs across various sectors and maintaining leading growth rates in key economic indicators within Shandong Province. The city has positioned embodied intelligence as a critical driver for cultivating new productive forces and advancing new industrialization, focusing on three core areas: complete machine manufacturing, core components, and application scenarios. Efforts are accelerating to establish an industrial framework centered on industrial robots and system integration, alongside coordinated development of exoskeleton robots and humanoid robot core components. Currently, Tai’an boasts over 300 affiliated enterprises in the robotics and intelligent equipment sector, generating nearly 60 billion RMB in revenue.
During the event, Tai’an City also organized a series of supporting activities, including the Embodied Intelligence Industry Development Cooperation Symposium, Fund Empowerment and Partnership Forum, Technology Exchange Conference, and Industrial Ecosystem Exhibition. These initiatives aimed to establish an integrated platform for technology exchange, project signing, capital connection, and industrial investment promotion.
