AKARTA — After concluding a defense pact with the United States and an oil deal with Russia, Indonesia has also agreed to strengthen defense industry cooperation with France, Jakarta said on Wednesday after the two countries’ presidents met in Paris.
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto was hosted by his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace on Tuesday, where they “discussed strengthening strategic cooperation,” a government statement said.
“This includes the procurement of defense equipment and the strengthening of the defense industry,” it added, citing France as a strategic partner for Indonesia in Europe.
