Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, delivered pre-recorded remarks at the ASEAN–EU Sustainability Summit, held in in Cebu, the Philippines, on 7 May 2026. In his remarks, SG Dr. Kao underscored the importance of strengthening ASEAN–EU cooperation to advance sustainable and inclusive growth. This includes promoting more aligned trade frameworks, accelerating digitalisation as a foundation for resilient and transparent supply chains, and mobilising investment in green and future-ready development. He also highlighted the need to support businesses, particularly MSMEs, in navigating evolving sustainability requirements and sustaining their participation in regional and global markets.
