Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN delivers keynote speech at the Opening Ceremony for ASEAN-Korea HPC Facility in Indonesia

Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN, H.E. Satvinder Singh, delivered the keynote address at the Opening Ceremony for ASEAN-Korea HPC Facility in Indonesia on 18 June 2026 at the National Research and Innovation Agency of Indonesia (BRIN) in Jakarta.

Supported by the Republic of Korea and Indonesia through the ASEAN-Korea Cooperation Fund (AKCF) and BRIN, with a joint investment of USD 16 million, the ASEAN-Korea HPC Facility in Indonesia marks a major milestone in ASEAN’s digital infrastructure. With a computing capacity of 4.2 petaflops—equivalent to 4.2 quadrillion calculations per second—the facility will strengthen ASEAN’s capabilities in AI, advanced research, and data-driven innovation. The facility has also recently been registered in the TOP500, the globally recognised benchmark of the world’s most powerful supercomputers, reflecting ASEAN’s growing standing in high-performance computing and digital innovation.

The event was attended by Chairman of BRIN, H.E. Prof. Dr. Arif Satria; Deputy Minister, Office of Artificial Intelligence Policy, Ministry of Science and ICT of the Republic of Korea, H.E. Dr. Kyeongman Kim; President of the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI), H.E. Dr. Lee Sik; Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to ASEAN, H.E. Lee Chul; Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Thailand to ASEAN, H.E. Prinat Apirat; members of the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR); and other distinguished guests.
