48th ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management Meeting strengthens Cooperation and Future Work Plans

BANDUNG, 1 August 2026 – The 48th Meeting of the ASEAN Committee on Disaster Management (ACDM) and related meetings convened in Bandung, Indonesia, from 28 July to 1 August 2026, to strengthen cooperation in disaster management and humanitarian assistance. It brought together representatives from National Disaster Management Organisations of ASEAN Member States, ASEAN Secretariat, the ASEAN Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA Centre) and partners.

In addition to the 48th ACDM Meeting, the four-day event included the 24th Meeting of the Governing Board of the AHA Centre, the 9th Meeting of the ASEAN Disaster Resilience Platform, the 10th Meeting of the ACDM Plus China, the 10th Meeting of the ACDM Plus Japan, and the 9th Meeting of the ACDM Plus Republic of Korea (ROK).

Hosted by the National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB) of Indonesia, the meetings were held under the theme: From ASEAN to Global: Strengthening Community Preparedness and Leadership for Sustainable Resilience

Participants in the 48th ACDM Meeting discussed the progress of projects and activities under the AADMER Work Programme 2026-2030 and exchanged views on ways forward. Participants also explored a plan to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the ASEAN Declaration on One ASEAN One Response: ASEAN Responding as One in the Region and Outside the Region.

The ACDM meetings with China, Japan, and ROK further reaffirmed commitment to working on the development of the ASEAN-China, ASEAN-Japan, and ASEAN-ROK Work Plans on Disaster Management 2026-2030. Participants further reviewed the progress in the implementation of the respective cooperation work plan on disaster management and deliberated a number of new initiatives under the partnerships.

The 9th ADRP Meeting galvanised the commitment of relevant ASEAN Sectoral Bodies across ASEAN Community Pillars to strengthen a whole-of-ASEAN approach and synergy in building disaster resilience in the region, as stated in the ASEAN Community Vision 2045.

The 48th ASEAN Meeting and related meetings are part of ASEAN’s regular efforts to strengthen regional cooperation on disaster management and humanitarian assistance. The 14th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Management/15th Conference of the Parties to AADMER, the 49th ACDM Meeting and related meetings are scheduled to take place, tentatively in November 2026 in Bali, Indonesia.
